Child Safety
Burns
The kitchen is one of the most dangerous rooms in the house for the baby. Make sure that he cannot reach the hot oven door when it is opened. Get in the habit of using the back burners on the stove and pointing the handles of pots and pans away from the front of the stove. Never try to carry hot tea or coffee while carrying the baby, and be sure that he cannot pull cups off of the table.
The water heater should be set no higher than 130°F to decrease the danger of scalding. Always check the water temperature carefully before putting your baby in the tub.
Be sure that your home has properly functioning smoke detectors.
