Look around the room for potential hazards before placing the infant or toddler on the floor. Plants, pets, bowls of popcorn or nuts, open stairwells, glass coffee tables, empty electrical outlets, sharp or fragile objects, and the toys of older children are all potentially dangerous. Your host will be appreciative that you are protecting your infant as well as the premises.
